Pilgrim's Guide
is to go, along with your sister &
brother, through Christ to
the Father under the guidance
of the Holy Spirit,
with the help of Mary
and all of the saints.
Begin by consciously placing yourself in the presence of the Blessed Trinity. God is present to you; be present to Him by your loving attention and keen desire to hear Him.
The psalmist once sang: "I offer my works to the Lord." It is worthwhile to work for the Lord.
Offer your works each day to God who gives joy to your youth.
Recall to mind the words of the Spanish Saint: "I do not wish to work for a Lord who can die."
Serve the Immortal God of Ages, the only one who deserves your total dedication.
Each morning before leaving for the factory, the office, your studies or work offer your day to God by making an:
All:
To our Lord, immortal and invisible, to the one and only God be all honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Leader:
Lord, God almighty, who has brought us to the beginning of this day, strengthen us today by Your grace, keep us free from sins, and direct our every word, thought and action according to Your holy will, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
All:
Amen.
All:
United through grace with all of the members of Your universal church, we offer You, Lord, our being, our working, our thinking, our feeling and desiring so that by these we may serve Your greater glory in the growth of Your Kingdom.
Amen.
All:
My Queen, my Mother,
I give You myself and, to show my devotion to you, I consecrate to you my eyes,
my mouth, my heart, my entire self. Since, good Mother, I am your own, keep me,
defend me, as your property and possession.
All:
Graciously hear us, O holy Lord, Father Almighty, eternal God; and send down from heaven your holy angels, that they may watch over, foster, safeguard, abide with, and defend all who dwell in this house. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
V.
The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.
R.
And she conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary ...
V.
Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R.
Be it done unto me according to Your word.
Hail Mary ...
V.
And the Word was made flesh.
R.
And dwelt amongst us.
Hail Mary ...
V.
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R.
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord, Your grace into our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Your Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and Cross be brought to the Glory of His resurrection, through the same Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
V.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
R.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, word without end. Amen.
V.
Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia.
R.
For He whom you were made worthy to bear, alleluia.
V.
Has risen as He said, alleluia.
R.
Pray for us to God, alleluia.
V.
Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia.
R.
For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.
Let us pray:
O God, who by the resurrection of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, has granted to give joy to the whole world; grant, we beseech You, that, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His mother, we may attain the joys of eternal life. Through the same Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; he has come to his people and set them free.
He has raised up for us a mighty savior, born of the house of his servant, David.
Through his holy prophets he promised of old that he would save us from our enemies, from the hands of all who hate us.
He promised to show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant.
This was the oath he swore to our father Abraham; to set us free from the hands of our enemies, free to worship him without fear, holy and righteous in his sight all the days of our life.
You, my child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High, for you shall go before the Lord to prepare his way, to give his people knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins.
In the tender compassion of our God, the dawn from on high shall break upon us, to shine on those who dwell in darkness and the shadow of death, and to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Leader:
Let us pray (pause for quiet prayer)
Father, give us the light we need to accept you as our guide and to follow your direction all during this day. This we ask through our Lord Jesus Christ.
All:
Amen.
Leader:
May the Lord bless us, deliver us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life.
All:
Amen.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you I come; before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
All:
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in us the fire of Your love.
V.
Send forth Your spirit and we shall be created.
R.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray:
O God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolation. Through Christ our Lord.
All:
Amen.

Leader:
O God, Who calmed the flames of fire for the three young men, grant in Your mercy that we, Your servants, may not be consumed by the flames of vice.
Direct our actions, we beseech You, Lord, by Your inspiration and further them with Your continual help so that every prayer and work of ours may begin always through you and in You likewise be ended.
Grant us, Lord, we beseech You, to completely extinguish within us the flames of vice, just like You strengthened blessed Lawrence to overcome his fiery torments.
Through Christ our Lord.
All:
Amen.
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior: for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant, and from this day all generations will call me blessed.
The Almighty has done great things for me: holy is his Name.
He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty-handed.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel, for he remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.
Pope Paul VI points out, "the Rosary should be considered as one of the best and most efficacious prayers in common that the Christian family is invited to recite."
"Like the liturgy, it is of a community nature, draws its inspiration from Sacred Scripture, and is oriented towards the mystery of Christ."
"By its nature the recitation of the Rosary calls for a quiet rhythm and a lingering pace, helping the individual to meditate on the mysteries of the Lord's life as seen through the eyes of her who was closest to the Lord ... "
(Marialis Cultus, No. 44-54)
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The Apostle's Creed
I believe in God the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit; born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
The Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace! the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The Doxology
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.
(Monday and Saturday)
1. The Incarnation of the Son of God.
And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and will bring forth a son; and you will call his name Jesus. The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. And therefore, the Holy One to be born will be called the son of God.” “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to your word.”
2. The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin.
When Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby in her womb leapt. And she was filled with the Holy Spirit. And she cried out, “Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb!” And Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior; for he has regarded the lowliness of his handmaid. For, behold, from now all generations will call me blessed; for he who is mighty has done great things for me. And holy is his name; and his mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear him.”
3. The Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes. And she laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were shepherds in the same district. And an angel of the Lord stood by them. “Do not be afraid, for I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all people. For today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you, who is Christ the Lord.” And Magi came from the East, and entering they found the child with Mary his mother. And falling down they worshipped him. And they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. And Mary kept in mind all these things, pondering them in her heart.
4. The Presentation of the Child Jesus.
According to the Law of Moses, they took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord. And Simeon said to Mary, “This child is destined for the fall and the rise of many in Israel, and for a sign that will be contradicted. And your own soul a sword shall pierce, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”
5. Jesus is found in the Temple.
And after three days, they found him in the temple sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. And all who were listening to him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. “Son, why have you done this to us? In sorrow your father and I have been seeking you.” “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father's business?” And they did not understand the word that he spoke to them.
1. The Agony of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
He fell down and began to pray. “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet not my will but yours be done.” And there appeared to him an angel from heaven to strengthen him. And falling into an agony he prayed the more earnestly. And his sweat became as drops of blood running down upon the ground. Then he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said, “Could you not, then, watch one hour with me? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
2. The Scourging of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
And Pilate asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world, but you have said it; I am a king.” Then Pilate said, “I find no guilt in this man. I will therefore chastise him and release him.” Pilate, then took Jesus and had him scourged. Oppressed and condemned, he was taken away, a man of suffering.
3. The Crowning with Thorns.
Now the soldiers led him away into the courtyard, they stripped him and put on him a purple cloak. And plaiting a crown of thorns they put it upon his head, and a reed into his right hand. And bending the knee before him they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King.” Pilate again went outside and said, “l bring him out to you, that you may know I find no guilt in him. Behold the man!” But they cried out, “Away with him! Crucify him!” “Shall I crucify your king?” And they answered, “We have no king but Caesar.”
4. Jesus Carries His Cross.
And bearing the cross for himself, he went forth to the place called the Skull. And they laid hold of a certain Simon of Cyrene, and upon him they laid the cross to bear it after Jesus. “If anyone wishes to come after me, let him deny himself. And take up his cross daily, and follow me. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me. And you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
5. The Crucifixion and Death of Jesus.
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And Jesus said to him, “Amen I say to you this day you will be with me in paradise.” And Jesus saw his mother and the disciple standing by, whom he loved. And he said to his mother, “Woman, behold your son.” Then he said to his disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And bowing his head, he expired.
(Thursday)
1. The Baptism of Jesus
Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. John tried to prevent him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?” Jesus said to him in reply, “Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened [for him], and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove [and] coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
2. The Wedding at Cana
On the third day there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” [And] Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.” Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told them, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from (although the servers who had drawn the water knew), the headwaiter called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now.” Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him. After this, he and his mother, [his] brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and stayed there only a few days.
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
“This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.”
4. The Transfiguration
About eight days after he said this, he took Peter, John, and James and went up the mountain to pray. While he was praying his face changed in appearance and his clothing became dazzling white. And behold, two men were conversing with him, Moses and Elijah, who appeared in glory and spoke of his exodus that he was going to accomplish in Jerusalem. Peter and his companions had been overcome by sleep, but becoming fully awake, they saw his glory and the two men standing with him. As they were about to part from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here; let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” But he did not know what he was saying. While he was still speaking, a cloud came and cast a shadow over them, and they became frightened when they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.” After the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. They fell silent and did not at that time tell anyone what they had seen.
5. The Institution of the Holy Eucharist
While they were eating, he took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take it; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, “This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many. Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
(Wednesday and Sunday)
1. The Triumphant Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
“Do not be afraid: for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here, but has risen. Behold the place where they laid him. And behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.” “l am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, even if he die, shall live. For I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one shall take from you.”
2. The Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
And he lifted up his hands and blessed them. Saying, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations. Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you all days, even unto the consummation of the world.” And as he blessed them, he parted from them, and was taken up into heaven. And sits at the right hand of God.
3. The Coming of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles.
They were all together in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a violent wind blowing. And there appeared to them parted tongues as of fire, which settled upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak of the wonderful works of God. “Come, O Holy Spirit fill the hearts of the faithful; and kindle in them the fire of thy love.”
4. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in both body and soul.
Hear, O daughter, and see; turn your ear, for the king shall desire your beauty. All glorious is the king's daughter as she enters; her raiment is threaded with spun gold. And the temple of God in heaven was opened, and there came flashes of lightning, and peals of thunder. And a great sign appeared in heaven: a women clothed with the sun.
5. The Crowning of the Blessed Virgin Mary as Queen of heaven and earth.
And the moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars. So now, O Children,
listen to me; instruction and wisdom do not reject! Happy are those who keep my ways, watching daily at my gates. For he who finds me finds life, and wins favor from the Lord.
Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve; to you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears
Turn, then, most gracious Advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us; and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of your womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

Can you conceive of a child who does not love his mother?
Or of a gentleman who does not honor the lady of his dreams?
Or of a subject who does not pay homage to his queen?
Mother, Lady, Queen of apostles, the Virgin Mary is all of these.
Are you weak? Are you slipping? Do you weep?
Behold your mother!
Do you want to save the world?
You'll not do it without the Virgin!
Call upon her at all times.
Love her to the point of foolishness.
Call on her in your hour of need.
Entrust all of your cares to her.

Saturday Devotion to the Immaculate Virgin
Leader:
We fly to your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Despise not our prayer in our necessities, but deliver us from all dangers, ever glorious and Blessed Virgin.
All:
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we fly unto you, O Virgin of Virgins, our Mother! To you we come; before you we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions but, in your mercy, hear and answer us. Amen.
Leader:
Virgin and immaculate Mother!
All:
Look upon us with pity, Lady! We, Your beloved children lack faith, humility, charity, piety, love of the Eucharist, love of the Church, love of our own dignity as true Catholics, the spirit of sacrifice, the spirit of self-denial. Tell this to your Son. Intercede for us and the miracle of our sanctification will come about. Give us true piety, an intense love of Jesus Christ; the holy Church, the Pope, the Bishop, the parish. Help us to make communion fervent. Our visits to the Blessed Sacrament frequent. Our practice of what is right constant. Make us love Jesus Christ and you, Immaculate Mother, intensely. We ask this of you because of your unique and august dignity as Mother of God.
(Hail Mary)
Leader:
Virgin and Immaculate Mother!
All:
We are your children, but we feel the lure of the senses and the weakness of our own strength. Grant that we may lead chaste lives and acquire pure habits. Lead us with your maternal hand away from places and gatherings at which You would not be present. Inspire in us clean thoughts and sentiments, and grant that our actions be suited to a favorite child of the Virgin. We ask these things through your Immaculate Conception and because of your purity without stain.
(Hail Mary)
Leader:
Virgin and Immaculate Mother!
All:
There are some people who deny your Jesus and also deny you. There are not enough apostles to make them aware of the truth, to make them understand and live Christian lives, the only kind of life that can ennoble and dignify a person. We offer ourselves to you that you form in us a new heart. Fill it with fervor and zeal to work for the salvation of the many ungrateful, indifferent and unbelieving Christians. Lady, let there be apostles among Christians. Let those who direct us be self-forgetful, true apostles who will lead many souls to Jesus Christ and thus save our people and our nation. We ask these things of you because of the sorrows you bore for us at the foot of the Cross of the Redeemer.
(Hail Mary)
An Act of Consecration
All:
Lady, my Mother! I offer myself to you. And as proof of my filial affection, I consecrate to you this day my eyes, my ears, my tongue, my heart, in short, all that I am and all that I have. Now that I am all yours, Mother of goodness, watch over me and defend me as your own.
Amen.
Final Plea
Leader:
Immaculate Virgin!
All:
We prostrate ourselves before your altar calling to mind most gratefully all of your kindnesses. We claim you as our Queen and Lady. We beg you to continue to shower down upon us your favor and abundant blessings.
Lady! Give us strength and courage. We want to fulfill our promises faithfully. We will live in the state of grace so that we may become worthy of the many blessings of God.
We shall lay down our lives that all may know the gift of God. We want Christ to reign in the home, at work, at recreation. May He be at the center of human life and activity.
Grant, Lady, that all active Catholics with their forces submissive to the orders of the hierarchy, transform this world from pagan to human, and from human to divine. Radiating love, we shall work toward the salvation of our contacts.
Receive, Lady, these promises and hopes. Offer them to our Lord, your Son. Give us the strength, the courage, and the ardent desire of apostolate; so that we may fulfill our desires faithfully. Blessed Virgin reign over us. Be our Queen and Lady. Beloved Mother, love us and bless us
Saint Augustine, said: "That I may know You, Lord, and know myself!"
You know Him from your morning meditation. You shall know yourself from your examination of conscience. Each night take an X-ray of your soul. Study, like a good disciple of Christ, the cause of your failures, and how God has graced your successes. Know yourself!
Preparatory Prayer
All:
I believe, Lord, that you are here present. I adore you. I love you. Give me the light to see my wanderings and the grace to be sorry for them.
a) Do I fully give myself to God?
Jesus says:
"You must love God with your whole heart.''
1. Have I given my whole heart to God to the degree that I love him above all things and thus keep his commandments? Do I love him as a child loves his father, or am I too readily caught up with the love of other things?
2. Do I firmly believe in God who has spoken to me through his Son? Do I accept the teaching of the Church? Am I interested in learning more about my faith especially by listening to the Word of God, and avoiding whatever could weaken my faith? Have I professed my faith in God without fear? Have I given witness to my Christian beliefs in private and in public.
3. Do I pray in the morning and the evening? Is my prayer a true conversation with God involving both mind and heart or are my thoughts far from him? Do I make an offering of the day? Do I call for help in time of temptation?
4. Do I use the name of God with reverence? Is this true of Mary and the Saints?
5. Do I keep holy the Lord's day and other feasts of the Church? Do I participate actively and attentively in the celebration of the Liturgy especially the Eucharist? Do I frequent the sacraments?
6. Do I have other “idols” like work, sports, hobbies, etc. that take up more of my time and attention than He does?
b) Do I truly love my neighbor?
The Lord says:
"Love one another as I have loved you.”
1. Do I truly love my neighbors or do I oppress them, using them for my purposes, or treat them in a way I would not want to be treated? Have I scandalized my neighbors by word of deed?
2. Am I concerned for the wellbeing of my family? Is my patience and love a source of joy for them? Am I concerned for my children's Christian education, helping them by example? Do I take care of their spiritual and material needs, thus fostering in them a spirit of obedience, respect and helpfulness?
3. Am I faithful to my spouse in mind, in heart and in life? Am I concerned for the spiritual growth of my spouse? What do I do to encourage that growth? Do I give enough love, patience, encouragement, support? As spouses are we growing together? Do we pray together; dialogue together; communicate with each other? Do we evaluate our Christian growth as spouses and as a family?
4. Do I share what I possess with those who are poorer than I? Do I defend the oppressed as much as I am able? Do I help those who live in misery? Do I help those who are weaker, or do I look down upon the poor, the weak, the elderly, foreigners and those of a different race?
5. Am I responding to my vocation to be a Christian? Am I an apostle for Christ? Do I engage in charitable activities? Do I seek to bring Christian solutions to the problems of the world?
6. In the community that I am a part of, am I solely involved in my own affairs? Do I promote honesty, harmony and love? Do I fulfill my civic responsibilities? Could I be more generous, more courageous, more self-sacrificing, more cheerful?
7. In my work or place of employment, am I just, hardworking, honest? Do I work with a spirit of love and care? Do I pay a just wage? Do I keep my word and comply with contract specifications?
8. Do I respect and obey legitimate authority? Do I exercise authority for the common good and in a spirit of service?
9. Am I truthful and sincere in my conversations? Do I engage in gossip, calumny, half-truths? Have I violated someone's trust?
10. Have I damaged the health, reputation, honor, life or goods that belong to another? Have I taken part in an abortion? Have I hated anyone? Do I feel alienated from anyone due to disappointments, injury, outright offenses? Have I sought reconciliation with them? Have I failed to stand up for the innocence of an accused? Have I sexually, physically, psychologically or emotionally abused anyone?
c) In what direction is my life going?
Christ the Lord says:
"Seek first His Kingship over you."
1. In what direction is my life going? Does the hope of eternal life encourage me? Am I growing closer to Christ through daily acts of piety; prayer, and meditation; Mass and Holy Communion; visit the Blessed Sacrament; rosary? Do I try to control my vices, passions and inclinations by mortification and self-denial? Do I eat, drink or smoke too much? Am I self-satisfied or overbearing, disregarding the opinions or feelings of others? Have I deprived others of their freedom or rights by imposing my will on them?
2. How have I used the time, energy and talents which God has given me? Have I lacked time to be His apostle? Or have I been lazy, wasted time?
3. Have I accepted serenely and patiently the problems and setbacks of life? Do I sacrifice and mortify myself in order to imitate and share in the Passion of Christ? Am I willing to appear weak in order that others can be strong? Do I keep the rule of fast and abstinence?
4. Have I kept my body pure and chaste as a temple of the Holy Spirit destined to rise again in glory, as a sign of God's faithful love for mankind especially in marriage? Have I committed fornication or sinned by impure words, thoughts, actions or desires? Have I led others into sin by my indecency? Have I abused myself through the use of substances?
5. Have I acted against my own conscience out of fear and hypocrisy? Have my actions been guided by Christian or by selfish motives? Do I have a regular Spiritual Director? Have I been open and honest with him or her?
6. Christ counts on me! Have I counted on Him?
Jesus Christ speaks to you
Leader:
My child: Think about your interior attitudes and disposition. Have your thoughts ... your aspirations ... your words ... your actions ... of this day been worthy of one of My apostles? And “that thing,” that is, your dominant passion, has it beat you again today? How many falls have you had? What was the reason ... ?
Think it over well.
Think about the means which I won for you with my blood, and which I offer daily so that my grace may increase in you: morning offering ... , meditation ... , mass ... , communion ... , visit to the Blessed Sacrament ... rosary ... : have you neglected these means of sanctification? Was today your day to visit your spiritual director. When will you go?
And what about your apostolate? Could you have been more generous ... , more courageous ... , more sacrificing ... , even more cheerful?
With a little effort, could you have overcome the obstacles which you found along the road?
Haven't you had the time to be an apostle? Listen to Me: isn't it true that for those things which really interest you, you can try to find time, you do find time, “make” time? I, who am your God, would almost be satisfied if you would treat me as you treat any of your friends ... What have you done today that I may be better known, that I may be better loved?
Are you with me ... or against Me? At work ... , at your studies ... , in your profession ... , at your recreation ... have you been My apostle? Would you have liked to have seen Me there?
Remember that the lack of fidelity of the “faithful” wound My heart the most. I count on you! On you! And you, on whom or what do you count?
My child: don't stop halfway. I want your fire, your energy and your surrender. A Christian has a right to be enthusiastic. If you want to, you can. Tell me honestly: “Cost what it may, because it does cost, I shall live in Your grace, Lord.” Everything depends on your really wanting to.
Now, Speak to The Lord
(An Act of Contrition)
All:
I'm sorry, God, for having offended You. I'm sorry for the hell I've earned and the heaven I've lost. But I am sorry most of all because by sinning I have offended a God as good and as merciful as You. I would rather die than have offended You: I firmly resolve to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin. My Jesus, mercy!
You before the close of day,
Maker of the world we pray,
Of Your great mercy keep
Watch around us while we sleep.
Evil dreams put to flight
With all phantoms of the night;
Be our foe by You repressed,
Holy then shall be our rest.
Father, what we ask be done,
Through Your ever-blessed Son,
With the Holy Spirit and You
Reigning God eternally. Amen.
Leader:
You are in us and Your Holy Name has been called on in our behalf; do not abandon us, Lord, our God.
All:
Let us thank God.
Leader:
Into Your hands, Lord, I offer my spirit.
All:
You have redeemed me, Lord, God of truth.
Leader:
Save us, Lord, while we wake; keep us while we sleep, because we watch with Christ and we rest in peace. Amen.
Watch over us, Lord, as over the pupil of Your eye.
All:
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us.
Leader:
ln the shadow of Your wings, protect us.
All:
Shower, Lord Your mercy upon us, according to our hope in You
Leader:
I have hoped in You. Lord, I shall never be confounded.
All:
Lord hear my prayer and let my cry come unto You.
Leader:
We beseech You, Lord, come into this dwelling and remove from it the snares of the enemy; let Your holy angels dwell here, let them keep us in peace, and let Your blessing remain with us forever. Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
All:
Amen.
Leader:
Hail, Mary, - daughter of God the Father -, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, etc.
Hail, Mary, - Mother of God the Son -, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, etc.
Hail, Mary, - Spouse of God the Holy Spirit -, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, etc.
All:
Jesus, Joseph and Mary: I give you my heart and my soul.
Jesus, Joseph and Mary: help me in my last agony.
Jesus, Joseph and Mary: may my soul rest in peace with you.
Leader:
May the divine assistance remain always with us. Amen.
May the Almighty and merciful Lord, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, bless and guard us.
All:
Amen.
The Apostolic Hour is an hour during which Christians hold an audience with their King. We insist that He conquer us.
We “plot” the salvation of the world with Him, in front of the tabernacle, which is His headquarters. The greatest lever of the apostle is his knees.
In order to appreciate better and more fully what we are, what we believe and what we want; to help us in our visit to the Blessed Sacrament; to urge our brothers and sisters on their way to God, we pray:
Leader:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
One with Christ, let us glorify the Father in the joy of the Holy Spirit.
All:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
Leader:
Lord Jesus Christ:
These members of Your Church who, in their boldness and confident of Your help, want to be the member of Your kingdom prostrate themselves before You.
All:
We want to know Jesus Christ.
We want to help Jesus Christ.
We want to suffer for Jesus Christ.
We are the disciples of Christ the King!
Leader:
We want to be Yours, Lord, really Yours:
those who do not doubt,
those who do not waver,
those who do not get tired,
those who do not use shady means nor twofaced attitudes,
those who give all rather than betray You.
All:
For this reason, during this apostolic hour, in wonderful intimacy, we beg You to teach us, to form us, to conquer us, and enkindle in us a holy bravery and the thirst for conquest.
Leader:
Lord: You are our Lord and Master.
You alone have the words of eternal life. Let us know the gift of God! You are our Brother and our Friend. Make us Your most loyal friends! You are our Lord and our King. King of the whole world, King of all peoples.
Make us apostles of Your Kingdom, warriors of Your Holy Church! Let us feel the pride of being apostles! Give us the zeal and ardor of soldiers of Christ The King! During this Apostolic Hour we shall remain at the foot of Your Cross, with Your Mother, as did Saint John, the young apostle, he of invincible fidelity.
All:
Lord: We draw near to Your Holy Cross, adoring the mystery of Your Passion.
We embrace Your torn and tortured body, which is covered with bloody wounds. We should like to feel, upon our brows, the blood which flows in abundance from Your wounds. We kiss Your dust-stained face, and from Your half-opened lips we gather in that – “I THIRST” - which grips Your soul with a divine thirst.
As a guard of honor, we surround Your most holy cross,
to accompany you in Your final hour;
to pray with You for the Church;
to offer ourselves with You as victims;
to share Your desires and sorrows;
to console You as you hang on the Cross;
to console You in the present agony of Your Church;
to get rid of our sins and ingratitudes;
to pay for the sins of all Christians and of all those who are not yet Christian, for whom we feel responsible to You.
Leader:
We want Christ to reign over us!
All:
Amen.
Leader:
Blessed be Jesus Christ!
All:
Amen.
Leader:
May Your Kingdom come!
All:
Our Father, may Your Kingdom come!
Leader:
Let us ask that the Lord to show us His mercy, show it to all those who fight in the apostolate, show it to all Christians.
All:
Lord:
Look upon us with merciful and forgiving eyes. We are sorry for the times we have been unfaithful, and for the unfaithfulness of many Christians for whom we stand as representatives before You. Do not look at the worldliness of our life, but rather all the love with which You loved us on the Cross.
Leader:
For our incomprehensive weakness, for the neglect with which we sometimes listen to Your voice.
All:
Forgive us, Lord, forgive us!
Leader:
For the delay in accepting Your demand, for the lukewarm way in which we walk Your road,
All:
Forgive us, Lord, forgive us.
Leader:
For the routine of our communions, for our lack of heart in the face of sacrifice, for our lack of attention at mass, for our weakness in not changing our lives.
All:

All:
Forgive us, Lord, forgive us.
Leader:
For those who give themselves over to the flesh,
All:
Forgive us, Lord, forgive us.
Leader:
For those who hate us, for those who wound us by their criticism and gossip, for those who sow enmity.

Leader:
For the young who set up a home without making You the center of that home, for the families who live on the fringe of Your law, for those who ignore Your grace.
All:
Forgive us, Lord, forgive us.

Sacred Heart of Christ the King!
Behold us at Your feet, adoring Your divine splendor. With deep gratitude we realize that You have chosen us, from among many, to be courageous soldiers of Your kingdom. We want to be really Yours, Lord.
And through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin our Mother, we consecrate ourselves to You. We want our souls to be immersed in grace at all times. Give us the strength to bear our cross all through life. Even though everyone around us be a coward, we want Lord to go against the current, and follow You. Who are the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Lord Jesus, make us apostles! Teach us to pray. Give us a taste for holy communion. Teach us to preach You by our example and in conversation. Grant, Lord, that we may open the broad road of Your grace to all men. Make the world return to You, even if it costs us our lives.
Amen.
(The leader intones the “Christus Vincit.”)
Christ shall conquer,
Christ shall govern,
Christ the Lord is
King of the world.
(St Francis of Assisi)
Most High, Omnipotent, Good Lord. Thine be the praise, the glory, the honor, and all benediction.
To Thee alone, Most High, they are due, and no man is worthy to mention Thee.
Be Thou praised, My Lord, with all thy creatures, above all Brother Sun, who gives the day and lightens us therewith. And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor, of Thee, Most High, he bears similitude.
Be Thou praised, my Lord, of Sister Moon and the stars, in the heaven has Thou formed them, clear and precious and comely.
Be Thou praised, my Lord, of Brother Wind, and of the air, and the cloud, and of fair and of all weather, by the which Thou givest to Thy creatures sustenance.
Be Thou praised, my Lord, of Sister Water, which is much useful and humble and precious and pure.
Be Thou praised my Lord, of Brother Fire, by which Thou hast lightened the night, and he is beautiful and joyful and robust and strong.
Be Thou praised, my Lord, of our Sister Mother Earth, which sustains and hath us in rule, and produces divers fruits with colored flowers and herbs.
By Thou praised, my Lord, of those who pardon for Thy love and endure sickness and tribulations.
Blessed are they who will endure it in peace, for by Thee, Most High, they shall be crowned.
Be Thou praised, My Lord, of our Sister Bodily Death, from whom no man living may escape, woe to those who die in mortal sin.
Blessed are they who are found in Thy most holy will, for the second death shall not work them ill.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want in green pastures he gives me repose;
Beside restful waters he leads me; he refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths for his name's sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil for you are at my side
With your rod and your staff that give me courage.
You spread the table before me in the sight of my foes;
You anoint my head with oil my cup overflows.
Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for years to come.
Rejoice, you just, in the Lord; praise from the upright is fitting.
Give thanks to the Lord on the harp; with the ten-stringed lyre chant his praises
Sing to him a new song; pluck the strings skillfully, with shouts of gladness.
For upright is the word of the Lord, and all his works are trustworthy.
He loves justice and right; of the kindness of the Lord the earth is full.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made; by the breath of his mouth all their host.
He gathers the waters of the sea as in a flask; in cellars he confines the deep.
Let all the earth fear the Lord, let all who dwell in the world revere him.
For he spoke, and it was made, he commanded, and it stood forth.
From heaven the Lord looks down; he sees all mankind.
From his fixed throne he beholds all who dwell on the earth.
He who fashioned the heart of each, he who knows all their works.
But see, the eyes of the Lord are upon those who fear him, upon those who hope for his kindness,
To deliver them from death and preserve them in spite of famine.
Our soul waits for the Lord, who is our help and our shield.
For in him our hearts rejoice; in his holy name we trust.
May your kindness, O Lord, be upon us who have put our hope in you.
O God, you are my God whom I seek for you my flesh pines and my soul thirsts like the earth, parched, lifeless and without water.
Thus have I gazed toward you in sanctuary to see your power and your glory.
For your kindness is a greater good than life; my lips shall glorify you.
Thus will I bless you while I live; lifting up my hands, I will call upon your name.
As with the riches of a banquet shall my soul be satisfied and with exultant lips my mouth shall praise you.
I will remember you upon my couch, and through the night watches l will meditate on you.
That you are my help and in the shadow of your wings I shout for joy.
My soul clings to you; your right hand holds me fast.
Praise the Lord, for he is good; sing praise to our God, for he is gracious.
It is fitting to praise him.
He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.
He tells the number of the stars he calls each one by name.
Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise with the harp to our God.
Who covers the heavens with clouds who provides rain for the earth.
Who makes grass grow on the mountains, and herbs for the service of men.
Who gives food to the cattle and to the young ravens when they cry to him.
O Lord, let the light of your countenance shine upon us!
You put gladness into my heart, more than when grain and wine abound.
As soon as I lie down, I fall peacefully to sleep, for you alone, O Lord, bring security to my dwelling.
l bless the Lord who counsels me; even in the night my heart exhorts me.
I set the Lord ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
Therefore, my heart is glad and my soul rejoices. My body, too, abides in confidence.
Because you will not abandon my soul to the nether world, nor will you suffer your faithful one (Jesus) to undergo corruption.
You will show me the path to life fullness of joy in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.
In you, O Lord, I take refuge;
You are my rock and my fortress; for your name's sake you will lead and guide me.
Into your hands, O Lord, commend my spirit; you will redeem me, O Lord, O faithful God.
You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
Say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
For he will rescue you from the snare of the fowler, from the destroying pestilence.
With his wings he will cover you, and under his wings you will take refuge.
You shall not fear the terror of the night.
Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and have made the Most High your stronghold,
No evil shall befall you, nor shall affliction come to your tent.
For to his angels he has given command about you that they guard you in all your ways.
Upon their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
May Almighty God grant us a peaceful night and a happy death. Amen.
All:
Amen.

Repeat three times: O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!
3. Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.
4. Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
5. The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
6. The Eternal Father (On the Five Large Decade Beads)
Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world
7. For the Sake . . . (On the 10 Small Beads of Each Decade)
For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
8. Repeat for the remaining decades
Saying the "Eternal Father" on the "Our Father" bead and then 10 "For the sake of His sorrowful Passion" on the following "Hail Mary" beads.
9. Conclude with Holy God
(Repeat three times) Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
10. Closing Prayer
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion — inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself.
Oh most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I adore you profoundly.
I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ present in all the Tabernacle’s of the world, in reparation for the outrageous, sacrilegious, any indifferences by which He is offended.
By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg the conversion of poor sinners.
Amen.
Totally yours, Immaculate Conception, Mary my Mother, Live in me, Act in me, Speak in me and through me, Think your thoughts in my mind, Love through my heart, Give me your dispositions and feelings, Teach, lead me and guide me to Jesus, Correct, enlighten and expand my thoughts and behavior, Possess my soul, Take over my entire personality and life, replace it with Yourself, Incline me to constant adoration, Pray in me and through me, Let me live in you and keep me in this union always. AMEN.
V. The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary;
R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
V. Hail Mary, full of grace, …
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord:
R. Be it done unto me according to Thy word.
V. Hail Mary, full of grace, …
V. And the Word was made flesh:
R. And dwelt among us.
V. Hail Mary, full of grace, …
V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord.
R. Amen.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for loving me (or him/her).
I thank you for sending your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, to the world to save and to set me free. I trust in your power and grace that sustain and restore me. Loving Father, touch me now with your healing hands, for I believe that your will is for me to be well in mind, body, soul and spirit.
Cover me with the most precious blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. Cast anything that should not be in me. Root out any unhealthy and abnormal cells. Open any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild and replenish any damaged areas.
Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection by the power of Jesus’ precious blood. Let the fire of your healing love pass through my entire body to heal and make new any diseased areas so that my body will function the way you created it to function. Touch also my mind and my emotion, even the deepest recesses of my heart.
Saturate my entire being with your presence, love, joy, and peace and draw me ever closer to you every moment of my life. And Father, fill me with your Holy Spirit and empower me to do your works so that my life will bring glory and honor to your holy name. I ask this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit,
That my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit,
That my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit,
That I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit,
To defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit,
That I always may be holy.

Opening
With all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin above all Angels and Saints in Paradise, beloved Daughter of the Eternal Father, and I consecrate to Thee my soul with all its faculties.
The First Hail Mary
"The first will be in honor of God the Father, Whose omnipotence raised my soul so high above every other creature that, after God, I have the greatest power in Heaven and on earth. In the hour of your death, I will use that power of God the Father to keep any hostile power far from you."
The Second Hail Mary
"The second Hail Mary will be said in honor of the Son of God, Who communicated His inscrutable wisdom to me. In the hour of your death, I will fill your soul with the light of that wisdom, so that all the darkness of ignorance and error will be dispelled."
The Third Hail Mary
"The third Hail Mary will be in honor of God the Holy Ghost, Who filled my soul with the sweetness of His love and tenderness and mercy. In your last hour, I will then change the bitterness of death into divine sweetness and delight."
At the end depending on time of day:
By thy holy and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, make my body pure and my soul holy; preserve me this day [this night] from mortal sin.
O Good Shepherd, you never cease to seek out the lost, to call home the stray, to comfort the frightened, and to bind up the wounded. I ask you to bring.. (names) back to the practice of the Faith, and to remove all obstacles that prevent them from receiving your abundant mercy, which flows sacramentally through the heart of your holy Church.
Through the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God, their Guardian Angels, their Patron Saints and the ever-prayerful St. Monica, may you pardon their sins and unshackle them from whatever hinders their freedom to come Home. For you, O Good Shepherd, have loved us to the end and offered yourself to the Father for the salvation of all.
Amen
St. John Bosco was a holy priest, devoted to prayer and the recipient of many supernatural visions from God. He used these spiritual experiences not only for his own benefit, but also when instructing the boys under his care.
In particular, he would frequently relate to the boys how to stay protected against the devil. Below is his advice and, if followed faithfully, Bosco claimed “the devil will never prevail against you.”

Most glorious Prince of the Celestial Host, Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in the conflict which we have to sustain against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places (Eph. 6.12). Come to the rescue of men whom God has created to His image and likeness, and whom He has redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of the devil. It is thou whom Holy Church venerates as her guardian and protector; thou whom the Lord has charged to conduct redeemed souls into Heaven. Pray, therefore, the God of Peace to subdue Satan beneath our feet, that he may no longer retain men captive nor do injury to the Church. Present our prayers to the most High, that without delay they may draw His mercy down upon us. Seize the dragon, the old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, bind him and cast him into the bottomless pit, that he may no more seduce the nations (Apoc. 20.2-3).
Exorcism
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, strengthened by the intercession of the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of Blessed Michael the Archangel, of the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and all the Saints, we confidently undertake to repulse the attacks and deceits of the devil.
Psalm 67
Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered: and let them that hate Him flee from before His face.
As smoke vanishes, so let them vanish away: as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
V. Behold the Cross of the Lord! Flee, bands of enemies.
R. The Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Offspring of David, has conquered.
V. May Thy mercy descend upon us.
R. As great as our hope in Thee.
(The crosses (†) below indicate a blessing to be given if a priest recites the Exorcism; if a lay person recites it, they indicate the Sign of the Cross to be made by that person.)
We drive you from us, whoever you may be, unclean spirits, Satanic powers, infernal invaders, wicked legions, assemblies, and sects. In the name and by the virtue of Our Lord Jesus Christ †. May you be snatched away and driven from the Church of God and from the souls redeemed by the Precious Blood of the Divine Lamb †.
Cease by your audacity, cunning serpent, to deceive the human race, to persecute the Church, to torment God's elect, and to sift them as wheat †. This is the command made to you by the Most High God †, with Whom in your haughty insolence you still pretend to be equal †. The God Who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth (I Tim. 2.4). God the Father commands you †. God the Son commands you †. God the Holy Ghost commands you †. Christ, the Eternal Word of God made Flesh, commands you †. He Who to save our race, outdone through your malice, humbled Himself, becoming obedient unto death (Phil. 2.8). He Who has built His Church on the firm rock and declared that the gates of hell shall not prevail against Her, because He dwells with Her all days, even to the consummation of the world (Matt. 28.20). The hidden virtue of the Cross requires it of you, as does the power of the mysteries of the Christian Faith †. The glorious Mother of God, the Virgin Mary, commands you †. She who by Her humility and from the first moment of Her Immaculate Conception crushed your proud head. The faith of the holy Apostles Peter and Paul and of the other Apostles commands you †. The blood of the Martyrs and the pious intercession of all the Saints command you †.
Thus, cursed dragon, and you, wicked legions, we adjure you by the living God †, by the true God †, by the holy God †, by the God Who so loved the world, as to give up His only-begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him may not perish but may have life everlasting (St. John 3.16). Cease deceiving human creatures and pouring out to them the poison of eternal perdition. Cease harming the Church and hindering her liberty. Retreat, Satan, inventor and master of all deceit, enemy of man's salvation. Cede the place to Christ in Whom you have found none of your works. Cede the place to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church acquired by Christ at the price of His Blood. Stoop beneath the all-powerful Hand of God. Tremble and flee at the evocation of the Holy and terrible name of Jesus; this Name which causes hell to tremble; this Name to which the Virtues, Powers and Dominations of Heaven are humbly submissive; this Name which the Cherubim and Seraphim praise unceasingly, repeating: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord, the God of Hosts.
V. O Lord hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.
V. May the Lord be with thee.
R. And with thy spirit.
Let Us Pray.
God of Heaven, God of earth, God of Angels, God of Archangels, God of Patriarchs, God of Prophets, God of Apostles, God of Martyrs, God of Confessors, God of Virgins, God who has power to give life after death and rest after work, because there is no other God than Thee and there can be no other, for Thou art the Creator of all things, visible and invisible, of Whose reign there shall be no end. We humbly prostrate ourselves before Thy glorious Majesty and we supplicate Thee to deliver us from all the tyranny of the infernal spirits, from their snares, their lies, and their furious wickedness. Deign, O Lord, to protect us by Thy power and to preserve us safe and sound. We beseech Thee through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
V. From the snares of the devil,
R. Deliver us, O Lord.
V. That Thy Church may serve Thee in peace and liberty,
R. We beseech Thee to hear us.
V. That Thou would crush down all enemies of Thy Church,
R. We beseech Thee to hear us.
(Holy water is sprinkled in the place where we may be.)
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Divine Power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who wander throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

How to pray the Surrender Novena
Time needed: 5 minutes
Turn your eyes upon Jesus and pray for surrender for nine days.
1. Begin by making the sign of the cross.
In the name of Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
2. Then, listen or read the words that Jesus spoke to Fr. Dolindo Ruotolo and that He continues to speak to us. Each day of the novena, listen and reflect on His words and consider how He is leading you to peace and comfort throughout the next nine days and forever.
Day 1
Why do you confuse yourselves by worrying? Leave the care of your affairs to me and everything will be peaceful. I say to you in truth that every act of true, blind, complete surrender to me produces the effect that you desire and resolves all difficult situations.
Day 2
Surrender to me does not mean to fret, to be upset, or to lose hope, nor does it mean offering to me a worried prayer asking me to follow you and change your worry into prayer. It is against this surrender, deeply against it, to worry, to be nervous and to desire to think about the consequence of anything.
It is like the confusion that children feel when they ask their mother to see their needs, and then try to take care of those needs for themselves so that their childlike efforts get in their mother’s way. Surrender means to placidly close the eyes of the soul, to turn away from thoughts of tribulation and to put yourself in my care, so that only I act, saying, “You take care of it."
Day 3
How many things I do when the soul, in so much spiritual and material need, turns to me, looks at me and says to me, “You take care of it,” then closes its eyes and rests. In pain you pray for me to act, but that I act in the way you want. You do not turn to me, instead, you want me to adapt your ideas. You are not sick people who ask the doctor how to. So do not act this way, but pray as I taught you in the Our Father: “Hallowed be thy Name,” that is, be glorified in my need. “Thy kingdom come,” that is, let all that is in us and in the world be in accord with your kingdom. “Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven,” that is, in our need, decide as you see fit for our temporal and eternal life. If you say to me truly: “Thy will be done,” which is the same as saying: “You take care of it,” I will intervene with all my omnipotence, and I will resolve the most difficult situations.
Day 4
You see evil growing instead of weakening? Do not worry. Close your eyes and say to me with faith: “Thy will be done, You take care of it.” I say to you that I will take care of it, and that I will intervene as does a doctor and I will accomplish miracles when they are needed. Do you see that the sick person is getting worse? Do not be upset, but close your eyes and say, “You take care of it.” I say to you that I will take care of it, and that there is no medicine more powerful than my loving intervention. By my love, I promise this to you.
Day 5
And then I must lead you on a path different from the one you see, I will prepare you; I will carry you in my arms; I will let you find yourself, like children who have fallen asleep in their mother’s arms, on the other bank of the river. What troubles you and hurts you immensely are your reason, your thoughts and worry, and your desire at all costs to deal with what afflicts you.
Day 6
You are sleepless; you want to judge everything, direct everything and see to everything and you surrender to human strength, or worse – to men themselves, trusting in their intervention – this is what hinders my words and my views. Oh, how much I wish from you this surrender, to help you; and how I suffer when I see you so agitated! Satan tries to do exactly this: to agitate you and to remove you from my protection and to throw you into the jaws of human initiative. So, trust only in me, rest in me, surrender to me in everything.
Day 7
I perform miracles in proportion to your full surrender to me and to your not thinking of yourselves. I sow treasure troves of graces when you are in deepest poverty. No person of reason, no thinker, has ever performed miracles, not even among the saints. He does divine works whosoever surrenders to God. So don’t think about it any more, because your mind is acute and for you it is very hard to see evil and to trust in me and to not think of yourself. Do this for all your needs, do this, all of you, and you will see great continual silent miracles. I will take care of things, I promise this to you.
Day 8
Close your eyes and let yourself be carried away on the flowing current of my grace; close your eyes and do not think of the present, turning your thoughts away from the future just as you would from temptation. Repose in me, believing in my goodness, and I promise you by my love that if you say, “You take care of it,” I will take care of it all; I will console you, liberate you and guide you.
Day 9
Pray always in readiness to surrender, and you will receive from it great peace and great rewards, even when I confer on you the grace of immolation, of repentance, and of love. Then what does suffering matter? It seems impossible to you? Close your eyes and say with all your soul, “Jesus, you take care of it.” Do not be afraid, I will take care of things and you will bless my name by humbling yourself. A thousand prayers cannot equal one single act of surrender, remember this well. There is no novena more effective than this.
3. Repeat the surrender refrain 10 times.
“O Jesus, I surrender myself to You, take care of everything!”
4. Close with a prayer from Servant of God Fr. Dolindo Ruotolo.
“Mother, I am yours now and forever. Through you and with you, I always want to belong completely to Jesus.”
5. Lastly, conclude with the sign of the cross.
In the name of Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
Jesus, my Savior, through Your Most Precious Blood, I beg You to remove the evil that tempts me and place it at the foot of Your Cross. I admit that I am weak and cannot do it alone. I do not want to die in mortal sin. Help me, Lord.
Mama Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, intercede for me in this battle against evil and crush the head of the demon of lust.
St. Raphael, Archangel, come to my aid today and help me fight with strength and purity.
St. Joseph, Terror of Demons, protect me and lead me in virtue. Guide me to make a General Confession and cleanse my soul. Help me be brave and firm in saying "No" to sexual sin.
Guardian Angel, I ask for your strength to resist the temptation. Make haste to help me, Holy Spirit, as I welcome, love, and expect Your presence with me. Guard my mind, soul, and hands, that I may not sin.
This I ask in Jesus name and aid of Our Lady of Sorrow, Amen
